It wasn't a joke! :)))))

I still don't understand why you're going from Win95 to Win3.11 when
you want to wipe the system. And reinstalling Win95 back over 3.11
again <gasp>. _This_ is why your system is always slowing down,
IMHO. Of course, the registry does get bloated without maintenance,
but you're already putting a load on Win95 by forcing it to ride on top
of 3.11. If you have the upgrade version of Win95, you can still do a
clean install. Are you aware of this?

As far as the registry bloat goes, there are a couple of solutions that
might be more time-saving than a reinstall. ZDNets' Inctrl3 will track
_every_ single change that's made to your system when you install
a new program. Then you can clean up what the uninstallers miss.
Norton Utilities also has a program called WinDoctor that gets rid of
registry keys that point to nowhere, and other garbage, quite well. It also
has a registry optimizer that cuts dead space out of the registry db.

Dlls are always problematic, but they don't slow your system down, they
just take up space on the HD. Unfortunately, they are often shared, and
there is no safe way to remove them other than to move them to some
temp file for a couple of months and wait and see if anybody complains.
If not, delete -- after backing up. :))

Good luck with that 500 mb laptop. :)
