Hi Carol,
What ZoneAlarm calls an update is actually a new program version. The latest
free version is 6.0.667.000. You install the program just like any other but
when you have a previous version installed, it will detect it and you will
have the option of an "Upgrade" or "Clean Install". An upgrade will retain
all your present settings.
As with any program, new does not always mean better. To my knowledge there
hasn't been any conflicts or problems associated with recent versions of
ZoneAlarm. It's a good idea to keep the setup/install file of a known good
working version when upgrading any program should you decide to revert back
to it for any reason.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Zone Alarm update
Deos anyone have any 'inside info', or just thoughts in general, on what the
Zone Alarm update is really all about? Does it close security gaps or just
have more bells and whistles? Is everyone rushing to do this? At first I
thought it might be a good idea to download it to this old computer and have
it as a possible setup for the new computer that I should be getting today
or tomorrow. (Since the update has " new security features". But, on the
other hand, I don't want to start the new computer off with a program that
could be faulty either. (Not sure what I downloaded the other day for the
new computer - whether it contains this update or not.)
