     I think you are dealing with several problems...
I will "touch" on some of the issues...
When you send, you can control the width of the lines.
I like less than 70 characters. That allows at least one quote
with-out odd line wrapping, and works well most places.
     When receiving, you are at the mercy of people that
send what I call "slightly long lines".  You can help it by sliding
the vertical bar, if any, to the left to give yourself more width,
changing the font size, or changing the system screen
resolution to give more room.

     Go into Tools - Options, Send & Read.
In the Send, fool around in the settings box.
While you are there, look around, there is lots
to play with...
