Diane, when you start windows update, it tells you how many are available. Click on the view details or view updates. It will then list them with the important ones checked. To not download it, uncheck it. If you want to hide one, you can right click and choose hide. Then it won't appear in the list, but you will have an entry that tells you have hidden updates..
