Hello everyone,
I'm using Office XP Pro, thus Access2002 and Excel2002. As a learning
exercize, I created a database query in Excel to pull data from an Access table.
Then I applied autofilter to the headers which allows me to filter for specific
field data showing just those data associated with the filter. I've created a
formula(simple average) in a cell off to the side, i.e. =Average(C2:C20).
Problem is, when I filter on an item, all records associated with that item are
shown, but the average that is calculated isn't correct, and I can see this
visually. It appears as though the excluded record values are considered, but
as 0's which throws the average off. So, my question is, what do I need to do
to calculate only the filtered values, using the Average function as an
example. Further, if I've used a cell for the formula that is to the right of the
filter area, the cell which calculates the average disappears, showing only a
heavy underline in another cell, presumably below the one with the calculation.
Hope that makes some sense. If not, I'll clarify with any questions.
Thanks in advance for your help.
respectfully,
Paul Roeth
