There have been numerous reports of problems with the Office 97 SR-2
update. First, if you have the original (Microsoft calls it the "base")
version, SR-2 will choke when it attempts to install. There are also
problems with SR-2 not recognizing that SR-1 has been installed. For
more information on this, see article Q192816 on Microsoft's knowledge
base. There is also a problem after successfully installing SR-2 with
personal registration information being lost. This is addressed by
article Q160025 in Microsoft's knowledge base. Finally, there are
reports of problems with PowerPoint no longer opening a blank
presentation when first opening after SR-2 has been installed. Nothing
yet from Microsoft on this problem.
