Sounds like browser hijacks in both cases. The first step is to run one or
more up-to-date anti-spyware scans. Malware can get in past the best
defences, possibly via a software install or via Messenger service if that
is not disabled.
Run freeware "Hijack This" and see what it shows. Submit its results to the
"Hijack This" forum if you have any doubts.
System Restore might possibly resolve the problem for XP.
