Hi Linda,
GRISOFT will continue to offer the AVG free version for home use. They are
replacing version 7.1 with 7.5 which has been updated, has a new look, and
is compatible with Windows Vista. The new version is available now and
version 7.1 will be discontinued on 15 January 2007. Present users are being
notified over a period of time so as to not overload the servers and give
everyone ample time to upgrade. If you haven't received a notice, you should
over the next few weeks. Of course, you can download the new version and
upgrade at any time without waiting to be notified.

I, too, have used the free version of AVG for sometime and have been
totally happy. It will no longer be free though as I have been notified that
in January there will be a charge.
