I am using AOL 6.0 on my laptop. For some strange reason, I can't access the
web by typing in an URL. I can click on a hyperlink and usually get to a
site, but not always. I have gotten a couple of messages that www.tol has
caused an illegal operation after AOL hangs up and I do a control-alt-delete
to get out. I have reinstalled AOL. I have done a system file check. I
have fixed my preferences and parental controls. I have uninstalled the AOL
Adaptor and DUN files, etc. I have done a thorough scandisk and disk defrag.
Can I try reinstalling my Windows 98 operating system? Can I do that
without losing any of my programs, etc. Any suggestions as to what may be
the problem would be greatly appreciated. I can send and receive email,
download attachments and pictures, but my "web window" for typing in url's
seems to be not working.

Thank you,
Susan Hays
