The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), which is burned
into the ROM chip, contains a portion of the Disk Operating
System (DOS).
The CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) is a
chip powered by a battery that retains system configuration
information even when the computer is hout down.
