Lorraine,

There are no special softwares needed to "install" a font.

If it is a TTF font, and you put it into your C:\WINDOWS\FONTS
folder, then it IS installed. You will need to reboot windows so that
it can "find" the new font, but that's all there is to it.

On my system, I have a subfolder C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\HOLD
in which I keep all the non-standard stuff. It helps my PC boot up
MUCH faster and when I need a special font, I just move it from
the HOLD folder up to the FONTS and reboot. When I'm done
with it, back it goes to the HOLD folder.
