John, I'm not sure about MSWorks, but in Excel there's a format function
for rows, columns & cells that controls the properties of characters
entered into a cell. Look for something similar in Works, & I think
you'll find that the cell(s) in question have been formated to interpret
anything entered therein as a date. Change the format to plain text &
you should be OK.
