The chkfat.exe is a process that runs on my computer and consumes quite a bit of memory, also uses up to 99% of my CPU as well as accessing the internet. The result is a big slow down of my system. When I end the process in the Windows Task Manger nothing seems to be affected. It resides in my Windows/System32 folder (Windows XP Home). I even renamed it _chkfat.exe but when I restarted my computer there was chkfat.exe as well as _chkfat. I have run searches in Google, Microsoft and others to no avail. HELP! What is it, do I need it and how do I get rid of it. I have Diskeeper software installed, is it maybe associated with it?
