you go to the device manager in the system properties and chose "sesyem
devices". there you will find "advance poers magement support" chose it
and select the "setting tab" and check the "force the APM 1.0 mode"

small note : the k62-350 (that can be easly overclocked to 450" costs only
$38. I upgraded a friend machine for only $85(with a motherboard). now he
has a 450 machine and he got to keep his old SIMM ram. now this is an
offer.
