I believe the very early Lotus used the .123 file extension. To
make them compatible for Excel you will have to upgrade the .123
files to a more recent version of Lotus. Versions of Lotus after
the original version came with a conversion utility, CONVERT.EXE,
for this purpose. With a file this old, you may have to go back
to a little more recent version of Lotus and convert the .123
files to .wk1 files and, from there, convert them from .wk1 to
.wks files. I don't think that the more recent versions of Lotus
can convert them directly from .123 to .wks files.
