Binding NetBEUI to the Internet would be entirely pointless. It
does everything by local broadcasts, and so isn't routable.
(In terms of my analogy to phone numbers, NetBEUI is a system
without area codes or any provision to use gateways to reach other
networks.)

The recommendation, fleshed out then, is to use this on your local
network specifically to handle file- and printer-sharing, stuff that
you definitely don't want going out to the Internet.
