Most of the time the setup files reside in a partition on your hard
drive created by the manufacturer when you buy the system....either that
or they provide you with a System Restore CD in case you want to
reinstall at some point in the future.
In your case, seeing that you do not have a CD with the OS on it, look
for a system partition (another lettered hard drive, such as D or E)
which should contain the setup files.....look for a file called
setup.exe. ( I am not sure if XP is setup this way or not).
Hope this gets you started .

Subject: [PCSOFT] Boot CD
Lets say I have a laptop 1 year old ( Toshiba
1115-103) and I do not have any CD or floopey disks in
case I need to get the machine going again. The laptop
has a DVD only it will play CD but no burner and it
does not list that it has CD player.I guess that the
DVD reads the CD. The OP is XP ,What would I do to get
this machine working again? I have a desk top that has
a CD burner on it plus a flopy disk drive. I can make
CD or floopys.BBut what do I need to do?
