Are you saying that you can't change the attributes to write? If this is so,
then you might need to take ownership of the files first. If you right click
on at file or folder, select Properties, then Security, and press the
Advanced button and select the Owner tab. See if anything there might help
you. Good luck - I know that things like this can be very frustrating. Been
there myself!
