Alex,

Filenames are stored in the File Allocation Table (even FAT16)  Uninstalling
and then reinstalling windows does not do anything to the FAT so your
filenames will not be changed

Sometimes I can not remember what I ate for breakfast <wink>, so remembering
something from one year ago would be even harder for me<grin>.  Perhaps you
did something to the files before you reinstalled Windows?

Since you say that you uninstalled and then reinstalled windows, you must
have been having problems with your computer.  Maybe the filenames were
changed even before you deleted the old Windows.  Or maybe while still in
the DOS system, you used some kind of dos-based disk utility (like Norton
Disk Doctor ver 8)

Also, please make all comments or replies through the PCSOFT (or PCBUILD)
mailing list so other people can learn from the conversation (or correct my
mistakes <GRIN>)  CC: to me if you want, but please post to the list.
