This was a very interesting exercise. From the time I submitted the
reply to the time I pick-up my e-mail to use the link I submitted, the
link stopped working. Then today I checked my link again and now I get
the same page you submitted Ian. Neat! Anyway, right now I searched for
bootvis.exe and found this place: http://www.filemirrors.com. Once on
the site do a search for the program by name. It showed many places to
download bootvis.exe. My file size is 630k. Use are your own risk.
I found instruction on the way I use it here:
http://www.xptuneup.com/xptuneup_bootvis.htm
Hope these links work until this get posted. :-)
I don't remember which place I read about bootvis.exe. It was ether
Woody's or PC World.
Aloha.

Contrary to some published reports, Bootvis.exe cannot reduce or alter a system's boot or resume performance. The boot optimization routines invoked by Bootvis.exe are built into Windows XP. These routines run automatically at pre-determined times as part of the normal operation of the operating system......................
