The simplest way to do this conversion of stones into pounds (12 stones 5
pounds) means actually having three columns, not two.

A1 for Stones: example -- 12

B1 for Pounds above Stones: example 5

C1 for the calculation, enter formula =sum(a1*14)+b1 (the resulting
calculation of 173 will be entered into C1)

It's a simple algebraic formula, and no need to bring in fractions or
decimals.
