    I am looking for a software- preferably freeware- that would slice
an image. The main reason for my wanting to do this is to speed up load
time of an image in a web page.
    I have IrfanView, Microsoft Image Composer and PhotoSuite, but I am
not able to slice an image using the above graphics programs.
