Hello!

On answer I can think of is that you are linking the picture. Try to embed
the picture and see what the size is. I suppose that the period starts to
incur Word's overhead stuff (styles, fonts, etc.) where as the picture does
not? Just a guess on that end.

I was just wondering if someone could explain why, when I save a word
97 document that only contains a period, the size is 19K, but when I
save a word 97 document with a small picture paste linked from Paint,
the size is about 16.5k.
