Hi Steve,

Something you may want to consider when thinking about using the anti-virus
on another machine is the license agreement. You could be in violation by
using it on more than one PC. Why not go ahead and install the anti-virus
program you/they plan to use? Unless the PC is already infected with a virus
that would attack and render it useless, that would seem to be the way to
go.

You could also use one or more of the many free online scans. Here are a
few:

You could, with some programs, copy the installation files to a CD and run
it from there. However, the license agreement would probably enter the
picture again.

Does anyone have an easy way to detect viruses on machines that do not yet
have antivirus protection?

Someone mentioned to me that one could use a notebook with a hub.. and
attach the machine in question to the hub.. but my Norton Anti-Virus
software is single machine only and does not recognize networked drives..

Has anyone done anything like this?   I would like the ability to detect and
eradicate viruses on such machines.. so that after they were clean we could
install ongoing antivirus protection..
