Tannis:
A minor quibble: It's OK to have more than one AV program on your PC. It
isn't OK is to have more than one running in the background at any given
time. For example, I could have Norton, McAfee and FProt all installed, but
only one of them would be used for the continous virus scanning that is
necessary while on the web. However, if I was concerned that something was
amiss with my system, or if there were a new critter out there that concerned
me, and only one of the vendors had a fix, I could (1) get off of the web,
(2) close down my background AV, and (3) do a complete system scan with one
or both of the others. In fact, I've done it just that way. (And, going way
OT, putting Fords in Chevvies and vice versa is what hot rodding was all
about once upon a time -- a cousin once fit a monster big Chrysler V-8 engine
in a '41 Ford. It was very, very fast, but transmissions and clutches were a
problem. IIRC, he was changing those about as often as he changed oil :^). )
