I'm puzzled by this one. Trouble started in attempting to install new
software to Gateway2000 P-166. Two applications (Journeyman and The
Uninstaller) claim corrupt ._MP files. When attempting to install IE 4.0
from CD Rom, get the following error message: "Extracting file failed.
It is most likely caused by low memory(low disk space for swapping
files) or corrupted Cabinet file." Attempted to reinstall Win95 after
renaming User.DAT and System.DAT and their backups, and also get an
error in extracting a CAB file for Setup. I've used VirusScan on the
hard drive; run ScanDisk, which reports no errors, and can't find any
info in the Knowledge Base on this problem. The hard drive shows over
1GB free in Windows Explorer.
TIA
