Hi!

Well I am another one who can't help put my $0.02 in on the whole Revel
Codes debate. Actually rather then beating a dead horse I am hoping
that the Word advocates can assist me.

I was/am a die hard WordPerfect user (since Dos 4.x). About a year or
two ago my company switched from WordPerfect to Word 6.0 for Windows. I
thought I was tough to convert from WP to Word, however the 300+ people
I support were even worse. Anyway...what I use and find the Reveal
Codes feature in WordPerfect to be far superior to those of Word is when
I am troubleshooting.

For example, if I am assisting a user with one of their documents it is
much easier for me to "see" what they did if I can use the Reveal Codes
feature. I can then easily remove the code. This works far better than
the undo feature since you have to undo everything before the "code" you
want to undo and then of course, redo it all. This is just one
example. The main complaint that I hear is is by the secretary who has
to "fix/edit" documents created by someone else (who obviously doesn't
know proper keyboarding techniques). The reveal codes feature makes
this easier for them to identify how the document was created use of
spaces rather than tabs, tabs rather than indents, not using styles,
etc. then global search & replace to fix (provided the creator was
consistent). Well I guess you get the idea.....

If anyone out there has any tips or tricks on how they compensate for
lack of the reveal codes feature, I would be interested. You can post
replies to the group or to my email address.

Thanks
