One program I rarely hear mentioned is Sysedit. If you go to
Start/Run and type Sysedit, there is a nice system file editor that
opens each of the above files. Make your changes and save the file.
The old file is automatically backed up with .syd as a suffix. That
way if you mess up you can easily recover the original.
I realize long time users know this, but I never see it suggested to
newer 'players'...and it always seemed a good safety net to me.
