It's not clear what you're trying to do.
Is this a backup you created?
Are you trying to copy the recovery partition, or are you creating a
system image?
You probably want to create an image of the D or C drive, and for that
you need an imaging program like Acronis or Drive Image XML.

I have a Dell inspiron e1705 laptop and I want to download a copy of the
system backup for the windows xp in it. I get a message when I try to
download back up that I need to install a restore program first. Where
do I get a program like that?
