What you should seriously look at is a program called e-Backup from Inachis
at http://www.inachis.com/index.htm

It is a shareware program and for my needs, it is well worth every dollar.
The backups work well and the restore action works seamlessly. I personally
tested it to make sure it would restore deleted mail, deleted mailboxes,
deleted Address Books and IE Favorites.

Here's a clip from their description of the software package . . .

Works with Outlook Express 5.00*, 5.01, 5.5 and 6
Supports Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4, 2000 and XP

Backup includes the following items:

Identities
Email and newsgroup messages
Folders
Accounts
Rules
Preferences
Signatures
Windows Address Book
Internet Explorer Favorites
Any custom data folder you want to add
