If you're running Win9x, open the file named 'win.ini' ( c:\windows\win.ini ) and look at the first two lines.
There shouldn't be anything listed after 'load=' or 'run='.
If there is anything there, backspace it out and save the file.
Sometimes after a program is removed ( usually a virus ) there are remnants left behind in that file.
It's a good idea to save a copy of the file somewhere before making changes - just in case.
