I have heard the MS-Update for Windows has become a bloaded hog too.
And their MSE just adds to that.
FWIW: I don't think anyone mentioned that FireFox 3.6+ is out.
It might be a good idea to get away from the old 3.5 series.
(Asking it to look for updates ONLY checks the 3.5 version it is now.)
