I am going to assume that you have a broadband connection and a CD burner
and I hope that those assumptions are correct because I would suggest that
you download a ISO image of a linux distribution. Try these sites:

For Mandrake Linux:
ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/distributions/mandrake/iso/
For Slackware Linux:
ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-8.0/isos/
