Hello,

Yesterday, the cookies in the temporary internet files are now either hidden or being automatically deleted. The files aren't, even though I have "empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed" checked in internet options/advanced menu. I can go to the cookies folder in documents and settings to view the cookies, new and old. Because my wife and I visit an online game site, I daily manually delete unwanted cookies.

I'm using WinXP SP2 Home, auto updated, security and privacy settings are at medium. Haven't changed or downloaded/installed anything. Don't recall anything out of the ordinary occurring yesterday unless replacing the optical drive by a Dell technician counts.

Don't know if this has any relevance to the problem, but, Windows crashed about
6-8 weeks ago and had Dell help me re-install XP with the disk provided with the computer. The pc is about 4 months old but Windows seemed a little flakey from the get go. After the re-install, everything appeared to be fine until this missing cookies business.

May I have some suggestions/recommendations as to what happened and how to fix the problem?

Thank you,

Norman Ushijima
