I have a PC that works okay, but has a problem with Microsoft office applications. If you open a document in any application, such as MSWord 97 it opens in a flash, but if you close the active document it takes longer than 30 seconds to close. The application itself closes quickly. I have a database that requires Access 2000 Runtime files to operate, which come packaged with the database. At first I thought the issue was with the 2000 Runtime files, so I removed it through Add and Remove, but found no improvement.

Other applications work fine including a database that functions without any association to the MS app's.

Any help appreciated.
