Jagpal, I can't understand why you continue to have problems updating AVG Free version - I would have thought that upgrading this particular antivirus program was a very simple operation.

Why not uninstall the entire AVG program and download the latest free version and start again?  And when it's necessary to update it, the program will do it automatically, providing you're online at the time you've set in the preferences.

But if you feel you need to update it at some time outside this envelope, then use the manual update option.  The update you obtain by that method will be no different from any bin file that you manage to download manually.
