I have a "logically" damaged floppy.
     No physical damage.
Scan disk and Norton Utilities are reporting all
types of errors. Nothing has been fixed.
(Most of the reported errors are "caused" by the
FAT table being wrong.)
One of the errors is illegal characters in the
file names. Part of the FAT table seems to be
offset one character to the left. (As "viewed"
in Scandisk error messages.)
My question is: Would a "DISKCOPY" of this disk
be a TRUE binary copy - byte for byte - including
the bad FAT tables, illegal characters, bad directory
structures, etc? Or would "DISKCOPY" read the disk
in DOS and try to make a "DOS LEGAL" clone of
the disk? Can you do a BINARY "DISKCOPY"?
I would like to get the exact damaged contents
of this disk on to several floppies to have several
tries at a full recovery in several different
utilities. PS: This is a "working floppy"
of unique files. See other message about
WEB pages on floppies. Rick
