I know not many tried to answer this one, it was a tough one, but it's now
fixed too. So, for the benefit of the list, here's what cured the problem.

After many hours of digging through the registry, I found a key that
associated ".exe" with
application/x-msdownload on my own puter, and the key was different on my
client's puter. I exported my key to a file and put the file on the
offending machine, double-clicked the .reg file and rebooted. It worked
fine and no more problems with Win98 wanting to know what application to
open an application with anymore!

And thanks for the advice Jim, but I couldn't find anywhere to delete that
current association, it wanted to be associated with something and wouldn't
take "nothing" for an answer! <G>

Another one solved, much to my client's joy!
