Lynn,
I have IE and NC both installed and switch back and forth between them,
depending on what kind of work I am doing.
If you are looking at the web browser only, then NC and IE are both fairly
equal, but they each have unique capabilities. For example, if you wish to
print a partial page, IE can print using the SELECTION option on the print
dialog-- NC has the same option on the print dialog, but it has never been
active (in other words: can't do it). With NC you can "pull out" a graphic
from a web page and print it (VIEW IMAGE and then print) -- IE can't. And
the list goes on....
As an overall package, I think Netscape is easier to deal with. It is a
complete, all-in-one, suite , which means there is a single installation for
all the elements of the suite. Because it is an integrated suite, the mail
program looks and "acts" identical to the newsreader, which looks and "acts"
just like the browser. With MS you have to install each component
individually and they look and work differently which means users have to
"learn" several different applications.
NC's mail app can request a delivery confirmation, MS can't.
MS can filter junk, NC can't.
MS Outlook is a PIM as well as email, NC is just mail.
and on and on......
