Vic, here are the fixes that I have tried so far:
(1) Installing the Microsoft shutdown patch with McAfee enabled and
disabled.
(2) Ran the patch several times; I read one of of several websites
sometimes you have to reinstall the patch more than once before it works.
(3) In Msconfig, disabled the LoadPowerProfile.
(4) In McAfee unchecked the option Scan Floppy Drive Prior to Shutdown.
(5) Held down the Shift key prior to shutting down the laptop.
(6) Disabling McAfee in Startup; I'm testing this fix now. I will know by
Thursday if it works or not.
The website below also lists possible causes and fixes for the shutdown
problem which I haven't tried yet. I may just wait till my company migrates
to Windows 2000. The bottom line is the website mentioned there is no one
fix that will fix the shutdown problem which I will have to agree.

But I am curious as to the fix you may think might work...

Linda,
I was just wondering what are the fixes that you have tried. Because I know
of several and you did not mention which ones you have used. I might have
one that you have not tried.
