I may have misunderstood Tom Waddells question about
multiplying one column by another in Excel but.....
Tom said that he used =B2*C2 for the first row, he could
then copy that cell down the column and have all the rest
of the rows calculated correctly as Excel does the copying
RELATIVE to each row so the next one is =B3*C3, the one
after =B4*C4 and so on.
A nice dodge is to use the "autofill" facility. Select the
first cell containing the calculation and you will see at
the bottom right of this cell a small black square. Move
your mouse over that and the mouse pointer will change from
the open cross to a smaller cross. With the smaller cross
showing hold the left mouse button and drag down the screen
as far as needed. Your initial cell is copied down the
column.
If you have no gaps in the rows and the calculation column
is D then autofill is even quicker as you can move over
autofill "handle" double click the left mouse button and it
will automatically autofill down the column until the
bottom row of data.
