You can uninstall and reinstall IE with a third party program, such as
IEradicator, which works with Win95/98/ME, available www.zdnet.com.
Microsoft has an uninstall procedure, available if you engage one of
their technicians, or, if you don't want to pay, as I remember, from
their knowledge base, www.microsoft.com. My experience with Win98 is that
uninstalling IE is for the bold.
If you have IE 5.5 installed you cannot upgrade. If you don't, you could
try upgrading. If you have IE5.5, you may be able to install IE5.01 over
the top, and, when working, install IE5.5 as upgrade if you wish. There
are many CDs with IE, such as a vast number of ISP installation disks. By
using one of those for IE setup you would not have to got online to
install IE.
