Here is the story on patitioning. Using FDISK or some other software to do
this, all that gets done is a change in the partition table. Your disk is
marked according to the divisions you specify. Strangely, it seems that all
of the OS vendors managed to agree as to how the partitioning is done!

Getting to the original question, as long as nothing has been written to the
disk since the partitioning was changed, the original information should
still be there. I have deleted and re-created partitions in the past with
all information intact. Although this usually works, I don't recommend doing
it for fun just to see if the data stays there!

Bryan:
If you only FORMAT-ed the partition, you could try UNFORMAT or
the Norton utilities.

If you actually FDISK-ed it, it is most unlikely unless anyone knows
of a disk utility that will unpartition a deleted partition (please let me
know  -- I have never been there, but I might one day).
