It probably means that for whatever reason Avast can't update at that time.
Those reasons could be your connection, Avast's servers, tidal alignment. I
wouldn't worry about it unless it happens every day all the time. If it does
then check your firewall settings to allow Avast to update.

I started getting the following message several times a day, starting
yesterday.  (I have XP)  It appears to be a message from Avast.

Avast Connection timeout
Internet connection timeout elapsed.  Continue waiting? Yes or No.
(msimn.exe-> mailx.sisna.com:110)

I have no idea whether to choose yes or no, so I have tried both.  Does
anyone have any idea what this means?
