OpenOffice is good office suite but it lacks database. Database
is available in StarOffice commercial product based on OpenOffice.
OO user interface is somewhat different from MSO but more
importantly underlying logic is different - many features exists in
OO but if you have learned MSO they are different places and
done different way. So You can't expect that OO works same
way has MSO. Import And export Compatibility with MSO
documents is good not complete. For example equations convert
poorly.
What expect? Better control of page styles - there is no page
styles in MSO instead You must use sections. Much better
drawing tools. OO drawing is usable to make vector graphics
pictures. I use it to make drawing for Word documents.
Also IMHO better chart graphs - at leas compared to Office XP.
Build in PDF export. Big download.

EasyOffice. Bloated UI but better PDF export. Less features
that OO and somewhat less compatible with MSO than OO.
License is very exclusive personal use for home.

602PCSuite Smallest but if You don't need many features
it is good. Free for home users.
