Sometimes Windows does not seem to notice it was shut down
improperly. It just comes back like nothing happened.
There is a setting in the Registry where you can ask Windows
"not" to run Scandisk after a "bad" shut-down, but since you
did not know that, I doubt if that is the problem.
I'll let someone else explain how to change the Registry, since it
is generally a good place to stay out of...
