Me can use more than 256 MB RAM.  Real limit is 1GB but to get it
work requires changing some settings in INI files. Without changes
it crashes when over 512 MB is installed.

FS erratic functioning may be caused memory but I think that is
caused by PC Booster when it attempts optimize RAM. Turn it
off.  Try run FS less detailed. Update audio drivers. Update
video drivers. ( do not use very new or beta drivers). Check DirectX
version.
