In Windows ME now and formerly in Win 98SE I occasionally disable the search feature by trying a second search on top of an earlier one (and perhaps by actions of mine I am not aware of). You can still enter the search data but the Start Search button brings no response. In trying to fix the problem I have been unable to find any solution short of a Restore in ME (with attendant updating work) or reinstallation of Windows.

I would appreciate any suggestions. There should be an easier way!
