Mary gave a good explaination of how to fix a broken
Sytem Tray setting in the Registry.
There is one more key to check... You might still have a "conflict"
If Run- is set to SysTray.Exe as below, the System Tray will be disabled.
The following two keys are a PAIR for a BROKEN System Tray...
Note: The Run- setting might have been put there with a "tweaking program"...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-]
"SystemTray"="SysTray.Exe"
(The above basically says "run-not" SysTray.Exe)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"SystemTray"=-
(The above basically says "run" "-" <nothing>)
To get System Tray to work reverse the last part of the second line of each...
As Mary said, backup your Registry and know how to use the backup before
mucking around in there... Rick Glazier
