There is an application called "Nuts and Bolts" (it can be downloaded as a
shareware) which has a powerful facility called the Shredder. I had the
same problem as you. By dragging the file to the Shredder, I managed to
delete it after failing to do so in many other ways. Try it. Hope it works
for you.
